Straight Section from Town bridge Westwards downstream

to sluice. Distance approx 300yds.

Very steep banks with few pegs. Advise great care,

unsuitable for children. Access only via lower side gate at

town bridge end .

Species: Seldom fished, main species roach, perch and chub.

Directions: Leave M5 at J23, take A38 to Highbridge

(approx 5 miles).

Up- on entering town you will pass over R Brue road bridge.

River Brue: Westhill Farm

Situated on the SE side of Highbridge town.

Both side of Hackness Sluice.gate.

 

Approx 300m 10/12 pegs . Fishing South bank ( car park side) only

comprising one field above and one field below Hackness Sluice.

Parking for 3 or 4 cars.

Species: chub, bream, perch, roach.

Directions: Leave M5 at J23, take A38 to Highbridge. Take last right before town into New Road. Proceed over railway bridge and then over M5. Take next left into Catherine St. After ½ mile turn into Newbridge Grove. And you will arrive at Hackness Sluice

River Parrett: Oath Farm

OS Grid Ref ST 387 275       West side of Langport near Wick.

 

Access to fishing South bank only (road side). Good parking for 6 to 8 cars on RHS of road. Limited pegs until you get back to Duck Cottage.

Species: Roach, Bream, Chub and Perch.

​

Directions: Leave M5 at J25, take A358 for 3m then take A378 for

approx 10miles to Langport. On the outskirts of Langport take a left signposted Wick, proceed through village and along narrow lane for further mile until you arrive at Oath Farm. You will see long stretch of roadside parking on right adjacent R Parrett.

NB Pedestrian footbridge over R Parrett leads to Langport AC

River Parrett: Duck Cottage

OS Grid Ref ST 396 275       West side of Langport near Wick.

​

This stretch of River Parrett ( South bank) is a continuation upstream from Oath Farm. It is accessed via gate on Wick side of Duck Cottage which is situated some half mile back from Oath Farm towards Wick.

​

Limited parking only. River is approached across a small field with

plenty of fishing in both directions, totalling 2m.

River Parrett: Coombe Farm

North West Edge of Langport

Access via rough track to and beyond Coombe Farm. Approx

1000m of fishing, North bank

.

Species: Roach, Bream, Chub and Perch.

Directions: Arriving at Langport via A378, proceed through town

and take the A372 Bridgwater road. Once on this road take the

first left signposted Coombe followed by the second track to

Coombe Farm. Follow long rough track to farm and proceed

past farm for further quarter mile until gate is reached.

Parrett is to be accessed beyond this gate on foot.

Thorney Moor Main Drain: Pibsbury

Pibsbury Pumping Station - Eastern Access. Parking in car park

adjacent main road, but difficult access to Thorney Drain as

EA main gate often locked.

​

Species: Mainly roach, bream.

​

Directions: Take Eastern A372 out of Langport for Wincanton.

Arriving at Huish Episcopi, once past, school will approach

Pumping station on right. Parking may be found alongside

on right.

Thorney Moor Main Drain: Shortwall Bridge

2m South of Langport, narrow drain comprising mainly Winter fishing for roach. Accessed at Shortwall Bridge only which is very limited for parking.

​

Directions: Proceed into Langport and over R Parrott bridge. Drive

through town and take first major right heading for Muchelny village.

​

After approx 2m the road passes over Shortwall bridge which is

located on a straight section of road and is of small construction

River Parrott: Huish Bridge, Langport

North end of the section right hand bank upstream all the way to

Thorney Bridge comprising over 3 miles of fishing.

​

Species: Roach, bream, perch, chub, pike.

​

Directions: Proceed through Langport town then taking first right up the hill passing under an arch, turn right at top into track leading to large car park at Huish Bridge. Access to SLAC waters is via footbridge over river

​​​​​​River Parrott: Westover Bridge

Located approx 1.5miles South of Langport, with Huish Bridge to the North and Thorney Bridge a further 2 miles to the South, this mid section of the 3.5 mile stretch of R Parrott continues to offer good fishing in quiet open countryside.

​

Species: Roach, bream, chub, perch, pike.

​

Directions: Proceed through Langport town then taking first right up the hill head for Muchelney village. Upon arrival into village take first right signpost- ed Drayton. You will shortly cross over Westover Bridge where there is car parking for 5/6 cars. SLAC waters relate to the right hand back upstream

River Parrott: Thorney Bridge

Situated 2m South of Westover Bridge, this stretch of R Parrott is much narrower and ideally suited to stick float fishing. Limited parking in the village with a 200m walk from Thorney bridge to the first fishable swim.

Species: Chub

Directions: As for Westover, but upon arrival at Muchelney take second right out of village for 2 miles to Thorney village. SLAC waters relate to left hand bank downstream

River Isle

OS Grid Ref ST 407 231

This free stretch of river extends from Midelney Bridge for approx 2/3rds mile downstream to the pumping station . Slow flowing stretch, fishing good for stick float or waggler. Benefits both good access and parking.

Species: Roach, chub, perch, pike.

​

Directions: Taking the A378 Langport road, proceed until you reach Curry Rivel ( approx 3miles before Langport ). Upon exiting Curry Rivel, take a right signposted Drayton. Follow the road into Drayton village then turn right for Whitecross. Follow the road for approx 1 mile until you reach Midelney bridge.

Thorney Moor Drain

This drain extends for approx 2/3rds mile , but is only accessible by an equivalent length walk on hard track from Midelney bridge to the pumping station. Once at pumping station, the drain can be seen to extend back across open countryside in the direction of Thorney.

Species: Roach, bream, perch and pike.

​
